Whether you're responsible for marketing a small or large business, the challenges are similar. It all comes down to one question - what makes your customers (and prospects) tick? What do they want to hear from you and how often do they want to hear it? It's fair to say the questions are endless. And until online surveys, getting the answers has been no easy task. To quickly understand needs, wants and expectations, online surveys are something you can't afford to overlook.
There are 3 words that say it all. Online surveys are:
- Fast - Since online surveys are easy to complete, the responses usually happen in less than a week.
- Affordable - Online surveys are an extension of your email campaign so that being said there's no paper, printing, postage or return postage to send the survey back.
- Effective - Given the ease of completing and submitting online surveys, they often produce response rates as high as 50%. Traditional mail surveys are lucky if they say a 10% response rate.
To generate the best possible response rates, you need to think about offering a good incentive. It doesn't need to be a trip around the world, but it does need to be appealing to your target audience. For example, if you're targeting a technical audience regarding a new software solution, you may want to offer them a "just released" downloadable white paper. Or if you're targeting consumers, you may want to consider a gift certificate to a popular store. Notice how both these incentives require no fulfillment costs? Life online - it's a beautiful thing!
